Update

Wow...I’ve never done this blogging thing before, it took me 10 mins just to figure out how to get in and write a note but eventually I made my way here.

Hmm, so update with the running. Well this 1/2 marathon training is in conjunction with my marine corps training. In about a month or so I have to head up to gville and do a fitness test with my recruiting office up there to prove that I am in good enough shape to return to training in May so by then I need to be able to do 3 miles in 21 mins. Right now, comfortably I am at about 3 miles in 25 mins, so 4 mins to cut on that route. At least once a week I will do a longer run to both train for the 1/2 marathon and build up my endurance. Today (Tuesday 01/05) I did a long run, 5 miles. I don’t typically time myself on long runs I just rejoice in the fact that I am able to complete it without walking.

So that is about where I am at. Tomorrow I will do another simple 3 miler for time just to see where I am with that goal. Thanks Gayon for the different plans that you posted. I think I may try doing one of them to help train for distance running.

Also, if anyone wants something that works really well for me. In conjunction with just running training each day, I do P90X fitness training. Some army buddies of mine say that their entire unit trains on P90X and they all swear by it. I did the full cycle a couple of months ago and IT IS AMAZING. You can tone your body and get it into the best shape ever, and because of that the running doesn’t faze me as much. So if you want to give that a try as well, it has my two thumbs up.

Last thing, a guy in my unit down here is a marathon runner for the Marine Corps and running is his life, literally, the marines pay him to run for them. Anyhoo, he is also a fitness instructor and he wrote this paper (more like dissertation) on running training and conditioning, and improving your run time. I just got him to email it to me and I am about to check it out. I believe that he mentioned to me that it also includes a training schedule ideal for upping your endurance and run time, so if anyone is interested in reading it and checking it out, just let me know and I will forward the email to you.

Sorry for such a long update. I guess since I don’t update often, the ones I do will be lengthy.

Great training to you all.

Kevin

Kev, great for you!
You're doing well without even trying that hard it seems!
Awesome bro!
(I've heard alot about P90X, but have never tried it. If you can loan it to me for a little bit that would be cool? Right now though I'm using ChaLean Extreme for strength training.)
i am interested in reading your marathon runner's paper so please forward it to me!

Last thing: Kev, you gotta keep your posts short. Dude, your response was awesome, just too long. lol. Mad love for you tho. Scroll down to use one of the simple formats that I suggested. (Ofcourse, if you think this severely inhibits your manhood, I mean, then do whatever you want...the idea is to quickly check-in and check-out.)
